About This Policy
Who We Are
Web Wizard is a website design and development service, operated by an individual based in the Sunshine Coast / Brisbane area. This policy explains what information is collected through this website, why it's collected, how it's used, how it's kept, and what choices you have about it.
Scope of This Policy
This policy covers information collected through this website, specifically the "Get a Website" form and the Price Estimator, along with the demo websites on our Showcase page, which are hosted on this same site. It doesn't cover other websites you might reach by clicking a link on this site, such as our Instagram or Facebook pages, or a client's finished website, each of those is covered by its own privacy policy, not this one.
Information We Collect
What You Give Us Directly
When you fill out the "Get a Website" form, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and, if the project is for a business, your business name, business email, and business phone number. We also collect the details you provide about the project itself: what the website is for and what it should include, the type of website you're after, your industry, whether you already have a website (and if so, its address and what you like or want changed about it), whether you have a domain name and what it is, your hosting provider, your budget range, your social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok), how you heard about us, any extra notes, and any photos, reference websites, design notes, or files you choose to upload or share.
The Price Estimator asks three quick questions about your project, but doesn't ask for your name, email, or phone number, and nothing you enter there is sent to us or stored anywhere, it's calculated entirely on your own device and disappears once you close the page.
Payment Information
When an invoice is issued, payment is handled directly through Stripe. We do not collect or store your card or payment details ourselves, Stripe processes and holds that information under its own privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy.
Information Collected Automatically
Like almost every website, the server that runs this site (hosted by Hostinger) automatically keeps short-term technical logs of the requests it receives, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. These are used only to keep the site running and secure, and aren't used to identify or profile you.
To protect the Get a Website form from spam and abuse, when you submit it a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address is kept for up to 24 hours, so the number of requests sent from one connection can be limited. The scrambled version isn't stored alongside your request, and it's automatically deleted after 24 hours.
Information We Don't Collect
This website doesn't use tracking cookies, analytics scripts, advertising pixels, or any other form of tracking. Apart from the basic technical logs described above, we don't collect your location, device information, or browsing behaviour, and we don't buy or receive information about you from any third party.
How We Use & Share Your Information
How We Use It
Your information is used only to understand what website you're after, put together a quote, contact you about your project (by phone or email), and send your Stripe invoice and the final website files once it's paid.
Who We Share It With
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes, and we never will. We do rely on a handful of services to actually run things, though, and your information passes through them along the way: Hostinger, which hosts this website, keeps its short-term technical logs, and receives your request when you submit it; Resend, which delivers that request to our inbox; Google, since our email is Gmail; Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic, which assists with designing and building your website and may receive your project details and any files you've attached; Netlify, where your prototype is hosted so you can preview it before paying; and Stripe, which receives only your name and email so an invoice can be issued. These are all established providers, but they're based overseas, including in the United States, and each handles your information under its own privacy policy rather than this one. Beyond that, we'd only ever disclose your information if we were genuinely required to by law.
Marketing Communications
Submitting the Get a Website form or the Price Estimator doesn't add you to a mailing list, newsletter, or any kind of marketing contact list. You won't receive marketing emails or texts from us unless you separately ask to.
Storage, Security & Retention
How Your Information Is Stored
When you submit the Get a Website form, the details are sent by email and kept in a private spreadsheet for our own records, so we can keep track of your project and get back to you. There's no separate database, this is a small, personally-run operation, and your information is handled accordingly, not by an enterprise system.
How We Protect It
Access to your information is limited to Web Wizard. We take reasonable, practical steps to keep it secure: this website is only served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, files you upload are checked for safety (and images are re-saved to strip out anything hidden in them) before they're sent on, the Get a Website form has spam protection, and we don't share account access or store your information anywhere public. As with any small business, no method of storage is ever completely risk-free, but your information is treated as private and handled carefully.
How Long We Keep It
We keep your information only for as long as needed to complete your project, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you need support or return for future work. If you'd like your information deleted sooner, see "Your Rights" below.
If There's Ever a Data Breach
In the unlikely event your information is ever accessed or disclosed without authorisation, we'll let you know as soon as reasonably possible, along with what happened and what's being done about it.
Your Rights & Choices
Your Rights
You can ask, at any time, to see what information we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Just get in touch through the contact details on this website, and we'll action your request as soon as we reasonably can.
Cookies & Website Data
This website does not use tracking cookies or advertising trackers. Nothing on this site follows you around the internet or builds a profile of your browsing habits.
A few small settings are saved in your own browser so the site works smoothly, and they never leave your device: whether the intro animation has already played (cleared when you close the tab), whether you've minimised the "Demo site" badge on a demo website, and, on some demo websites, your light or dark theme choice or the listings you've saved. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings.
The fonts on this site are served from this website itself, so loading a page doesn't send your information to Google Fonts or any other outside service.
Some demo websites include a Google Map. The map only loads if you choose to click to show it, and once it loads, Google receives information such as your IP address under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). If you don't click it, nothing is sent to Google.
Children's Privacy
This website isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone submitting a request on their own behalf who is under 18. If you believe a young person has submitted information without appropriate authority, get in touch and we'll remove it.
Other Things Worth Knowing
Links to Other Websites
This site links to external sites, including our Instagram and Facebook pages, and, on the Portfolio page, our clients' own websites. Once you leave our site, that other site's own privacy policy applies, not this one.
The demo websites on the Showcase page are made-up examples built to show what we can do. The businesses, people, reviews, and contact details in them are fictional, and any forms on them are for display only, so nothing you type into them is sent to us or stored.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated from time to time, for example if how we handle information changes. The version on this page is always the current one, and the "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
Australian Privacy Principles
Even where not formally required to by size, Web Wizard aims to handle your information consistently with the spirit of the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), covering how information is collected, used, stored, and disclosed.
